Curiosity: forget “Cherchez la femme” (Look for the woman.) “Cherchez l’histoire.” (Look for the story.)

Transcontinental Loop 2022 – Part 4

We’ve been pretty busy since my last post. On May 16, we headed southeast, across Kentucky toward Ben and Ruth’s new home in North Carolina Noticing the buildings of the Buffalo Trace Distillery, we stopped to take a look and learned that it’s been in operation since 1775. We bought a six-pack of Freddie’s Ginger Beer for Miriam, a bottle of the Bourbon cream to share with Ben and Ruth, and a bottle of bourbon to take home.

Driving through the Smoky Mountains, we followed up on Ben’s reminder that Ashville, NC is an interesting town. We decided to visit the Vanderbilt Estate. After a tasty lunch in the re-purposed old stable, we enjoyed the self-guided tour.
